Matthew Puffett — Lower The Anchor (2023)

Matthew Puffett, aka Future Beat Alliance, presents Lower The Anchor. After more than twenty-five years producing under the FBA moniker, this marked the first album released under his birth name.

A pivotal figure in the early British techno scene, Matthew has continued to release music to critical acclaim. Having explored ambient and soundtrack work across more recent Future Beat Alliance releases, Lower The Anchor brings this side of his production work to the forefront for the first time.

Lower The Anchor is a collection of orchestral soundscapes, drawing inspiration from moving image and contemporary classical music while leaning heavily into sci-fi aesthetics. The album’s closing track, “Mainland”, features Berlin-based artist David Nicholson on acoustic guitar.

In 2024, Italian luxury fashion house Bottega Veneta licensed the album track “Pre-Dawn Landscape” for its Resort 2024 campaign, Summer Solstice.
