Matthew Puffett aka Future Beat Alliance launches a new album concept titled "Lower The Anchor". Having spent the last twenty-five years producing under the FBA moniker, this will be the first time Matthew has released under his own name. Having been a pivotal player in the early days of the British Techno scene, Matt has continued to release music to critical acclaim. Having experimented with ambient and soundtrack work on recent FBA releases, "Lower The Anchor" sees this side of Matt’s production work come to the forefront for the first time.
“Lower The Anchor” is a collection of orchestral soundscapes, drawing inspiration from the moving picture & contemporary classical, leaning heavily on sci-fi aesthetics, the closing track “Mainland” features Berlin artist David Nicholson on acoustic guitar, mixed & mastered by Cameron Craig
The album is released on limited edition CD and digital platforms The CD is available to order on Bandcamp.

Matthew Puffett (FBA) records new podcast for the music, art, technology magazine ORB
The mix is heavily inspired by the moving picture, especially documentaries, science fiction films, etc, and documented into some kind of soundscape, collage, weaving through recent favourite film scores (scenes) accompanied with obscure spoken word film quotes, which are regularly collected and archived, most of the tracks chosen for the mix are new favourite discoveries with a couple of classics which are always on repeat.

It’s just over 10 years since we saw Matthew Puffett aka Future Beat Alliance with his last full length proper “Patience & Distance”. Having been busy collaborating and writing with James Lavelle on the UNKLE project, “Beginner’s Mind is his triumphant solo return that asks us to “slow down, think mindfully and see more clearly”. there’s the squelchy clubby bass of '“Black Acid” and expansive broken beats of “Birth” The highest though is “Tell Me About These Dreams” - an ambient cut of cinematic beauty

Future Beat Alliance release the album 'Beginner’s Mind'.
It was a long time coming, finally the “Beginners Mind” album project was released, lots of chipping away at this one & kept being put on hold due to other production work which came through & the dreaded Covid-19 lock down’s worldwide, a very weird time in general & highly risky to release & promote a new record, but we were over the moon with how it was received & felt very fitting in the middle of the chaos.

2020 Music Producers Awards
Re-mixer Of The Year: UNKLE
The 2020 Music Producers Guild Awards – an annual event that recognises the creativity, skill and talents of all music recording professionals. James Lavelle (UNKLE) teamed up with life long friend & Collaborator Matthew Puffett to engineer & remix the song “Pray For This World” by Perry Farrell which was nominated & became the winner of the MPG remix of the year 2020, Matthew Puffett also collaborated & engineered several remixes with UNKLE back in 2016 & 2018 which also won the award on both years.
